Vocabulary in To Kill a Mockingbird is difficult! Even as a college grad, I found myself struggling not only to understand some words, but even how to pronounce them!
I knew my students would struggle, so I created a vocabulary list for them–all the confusing, uncommon, and difficult words, or just words I wanted them know.

As we read, I had the students add to their lists. I assigned words to gather as a group and I also had them collect definitions independently.
One of the easiest ways I set up vocabulary was through Google Classroom. I created a question and asked the students to post their given words. This way they could see one another’s words and add them to their individual lists!
