To prepare for my classroom, I decided I wanted to make a bulletin board. And since this bad boy was picked up for only $1, I thought it would be perfect to recycle, revamp, and decorate for my 10th and 11th graders!
This is where I started–a plain board with some red construction paper. After some stencils, Sharpie marker, chalkboard squares, cutting, stapling, and gluing, this is the final product:
This is my “I Can” board. At Mason City High School, there are district standards that each grade and classroom has to follow. The ‘I Can’ statements are a way for teachers and students to make sure to meet the district goals. Most teachers incorporate the ‘I Can’ statements into their instruction somehow. I thought that having a visual board would not only serve as a reminder, but could be a fun way for me to create something for my classroom and for me to really take note of how my lessons are tying into the standards.
